Have you noticed yet that IMDB is now streaming movies and television shows on their website? It’s true! And this is great news for long time fans of the IMDB community, which is owned by Amazon. IMDB already offers so much by way of fan topic information and opportunities for community interaction. If you have an account on IMDB, then you may already be familiar with their integrated community features such as list-building, ratings and review, and polls.
If you don’t have an account there and you thought IMDB was just for looking up movies and actors, then you’re missing out! Creating an account is free and it’s the perfect place for film entertainment fans to save information about the movies and shows they love. Here are just a few of the features that IMDB provides members through the free account:
- Latest Trailers, Release Dates, and Theater Showtimes and Ticket Information.
- Celebrity Info, Award Events, and News.
- Contributor Zone, where users can submit information about topics.
- Watchlist for saving titles you’re interested in.
- Ratings can be offered by users and recorded in profile history.
- Lists feature that allows users to name titles they love or hate and share them with other viewers.
- Recommendations based on viewed or rated titles.
- Polls and Discussions.
Of course, they do have an upgrade option to IMDB Pro if you want more.

And, you can download the app for Android and iOS.
The new streaming service makes IMDB a more complete package. Though this streaming service is ad supported, it is a convenient alternative to similar services such as Crackle and Tubi… especially for loyal users of IMDB. That being said, many people today are streaming all of their entertainment through a variety of services, both paid and free, because it’s so easy and inexpensive to do so in comparison to cable. After all, you just need an internet connection and most of us have that.
Additionally, some people cannot afford to subscribe to paid streaming services. For them, so long as they have access to the internet, free services like IMDB’s Freedive or Sony’s Crackle provide them with an opportunity to enjoy a wider variety of streaming entertainment. The only drawback to the free services, is they don’t usually include any newly released content. But if you’re wondering what kind of content you can view on Freedive, take a look——->>>
Freedive is currently available only in the U.S.
They are working on making the streaming service available via the IMDB app, so stay tuned for that update.
For now, Freedive can be streamed on computers and via streaming devices – such as the Fire TV stick.
What do you think about this new free streaming option? Do you enjoy using IMDB? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments!
